Stay Connected
By Stacy Wendell

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. I am thankful to be back with you sharing my stories and thoughts from my heart.

Here on the east coast we have been slammed with what I consider to be the snow storm of the century. Well, maybe not the century but certainly a BIG storm LOL. We have been basically snowed in on and off for a few weeks. The time at home has given me a lot of time for reflection and prayer. My schedule has been brutal lately, mostly of my own doing. I admit I can be a bit over ambitious at times. J Too many I’s to dot and too many T’s to cross. Anyone who has read my Facebook page can sense my distress at times. In spite of my feelings of being overwhelmed for many years I have continued to pile on commitment after commitment ignoring my emotional and often my physical state; today I got awake up call.

I woke up this morning with so much on my mind. I woke up this morning with so much to get done. I woke up this morning and decided to stay home from church to get MY work completed. I woke up this morning and I didn’t have anything else on my mind but what I needed to get done, but I didn’t check in with God, and His plan for my day. I sent a text message to my Pastor explaining why I couldn’t make it to Sunday morning service. I am a minister in training at my church now and my Pastor is my father in the ministry.

His reply was simple: “You can’t continue to miss Worship in favor of other things…” At first I must admit I was a little troubled, and thought to myself “if he only knew how much I had to get done then maybe he would empathize with me” After a little while of self pity (lol) I had a Wow moment…My spiritual father was sending me a message from my Heavenly Father, the question was “What about me?”

Ironically, I have asked this question several times as I felt overworked and under appreciated. “What about me?” My Pastor was reminding me to stay connected.

Worship is defined as reverence to God. His response could have said you can’t continue to miss church but he said worship. Worship keeps you connected when the rest of the world is in a frenzy. My Pastor is aware of my schedule but he is also aware of God’s Plan for me.

Earlier this weekend I received a message on my Facebook entitled “A Message from God” and the message said:

On this day of your life, Stacy, we believe God wants you to know ... that you are a human being, not a human doing.

Message from God

Take time to just be, to breath slowly, to feel your body that is the temple of your soul. No activities, no worries, no buzzing.

That’s a revelation; It’s time for me to slow down, stay connected and worship God. How can I be effective in anything if I don’t take time to glorify the Creator of EVERYTHING! Thanks for the wake up call, Pastor.
